About the Consolidated Jail

The Jefferson Davis Parish Consolidated Jail was completed in 2019, replacing the parish's previous 1964 facility, which held only 62 inmates. The new 200-bed facility includes holding and isolation cells, a booking area, a medical office, a central command center, and separate recreation yards for male and female inmates. The jail is owned by the Police Jury, with day-to-day operations overseen by the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Office.

This facility handles booking and processing for all arrests across Jefferson Davis Parish — Jennings, Welsh, Lake Arthur, Elton, and Fenton alike. Louisiana law requires that inmates be seen by a judge within 72 hours of arrest.

Finding an Inmate

Call the jail directly at (337) 821-2104 with the person's full legal name and date of birth. You can also register anonymously through the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Office jail roster notification system, or enroll in Louisiana VINE for automatic custody status updates.

If you're not sure whether your loved one is here, call Carter Bail Bonds — we can help confirm quickly.

Bonds & Visitation

Bond Hours

Bonds are only accepted Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, per the facility's official policy. This is more restrictive than some larger facilities — Carter Bail Bonds can still take your call 24/7 and prepare everything in advance, but the actual bond posting at this specific jail is limited to these business hours.

Fees

In addition to the standard 12% state-mandated premium, this facility charges a $30 paperwork fee on all bonds. Property bonds may involve additional fees not covered by the standard premium.

Visitation

Visitation policies and hours are set by the Sheriff's Office and can change — confirm current visiting details directly by calling (337) 821-2104 before making a trip.

Phone, Mail & Commissary

Commissary

Inmates order commissary every Wednesday before noon and receive it the following business day. To add funds to an inmate's account, bring cash, a debit card, or a credit card to the Sheriff's Office Dispatch Lobby and use the Commissary Kiosk.

Mail

Mail is accepted at the facility's physical address — confirm the exact mailing format and any booking/ID number by calling (337) 821-2104 before sending.

Note: Payment systems, fees, and accepted methods can change — confirm current details directly with the facility before sending funds.

How Bail Works at This Facility

01

Step 1: Booking

After arrest, the defendant is transported here for booking — fingerprinting, photographs, and entry into the system.

02

Step 2: Bail Is Set

Bail is set according to the parish bail schedule, or by a judge — Louisiana law requires the defendant be seen by a judge within 72 hours.

03

Step 3: Call Carter Bail Bonds

We're available 24/7. Call us with the defendant's full name, date of birth, and the charge if known.

04

Step 4: We Prepare Everything

Because bonds at this specific facility are only posted Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–3:30 PM, we'll walk you through timing so there's no confusion about when the bond can actually be posted.

05

Step 5: We Post the Bond

Once paperwork and payment are complete, and during the facility's posting hours, our licensed agent posts the bond directly.

Important: Bail eligibility is always decided by a judge. Carter Bail Bonds does not set bail amounts or determine release — we post the bond once the court has set it and the facility's posting window allows it.

Charges We Handle

Carter Bail Bonds posts bonds for every charge type here. Select any charge below for full details on penalties, typical bail amounts, and the bail process specific to that offense.
